About the Cozy Dog Drive In

The Cozy Dog Drive In in Springfield, Illinois is the home of the one and only Cozy Dog. The Cozy Dog is a delicious hot dog on a stick that is found nation-wide at many county and state fairs. The Cozy Dog Drive In is open Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm. In the morning we have fresh breakfast items such as eggs, pancakes, and french toast. Then for lunch and dinner we serve our world famous Cozy Dogs along with fresh cut french fries, hamburgers, homemade chili and homemade bean soup, pork tenderloins and other delicious food items. We are also closed on the following Holidays:
New Year's Day, Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th, Labor Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas through January 7th, 2008.

7 Wonders of Illinois Contest

Masatoshi Nakamura visits the Cozy Dog

In April, Cozy Dog Drive In had the honor of having Masatoshi Nakamura a very famous actor and singer from Tokoyo, JAPAN stop by the Cozy Dog on his way along Route 66 with a film crew. They just so happened to meet up with Bob Waldmire, who presented him with a drawing he did for Mr. Nakamura. What a great time we had! Thank you to Mr. Nakamura, and Mas Kondo, & all of the film crew for a really nice time., Hope you all come back sometime soon for an American Dog! aka: Cozy Dog! (Roads of the World segment shown on June 9th in Tokoyo).

Cozy Dog Panel Vans

This is a custom made Panel van much like the one used by Ed Waldmire back in the 50's. It is a die cast replica with Cozy Dog Logos on each side of the van and on the back doors. (not decals). It is displayed nicely in or out of the window box which also contains the "Cozy Dog Story" printed on the back of the box.. The panel vans are priced at $29.95 + shipping and handling. We accept personal checks or money orders.

The Gold Award

Cozy Dog is proud to have received the Gold Award from the Sangamon County Heatlh Department. This award is presented to Food Establishments which have demonstrated their commitment to food safety in the past year by maintaining an inspection score of no more than eight demerit points and having no violations that required a return visit.

Hampton Inn Route 66 Roadside Attraction

In June of 2003, Cozy Dog was declared a Route 66 Roadside Attraction by Hampton Inn's "Save a Landmark" Campaign. Jim Conkle, Executive Director of the CA Route 66 Preservation Foundation presented the sign on Wednesday June 18th.

A Brief Overview of the Hampton's Save a Landmark Campaign:

In May 2002, Hampton's Save a Landmark initiative announced Route 66 as a newly focused preservation effort. Last year, the program donated close to 100 Historic Route 66 highway road signs to be posted along the Route where they had previously been stolen or weather worn. At that time, Hampton realized the need to educate travelers on the Route's unique history, as an important slice of Americana worth preserving. This year, after having identifed more than 60 unique stops along Route 66 through preservationist and Route 66 Association partnerships, Hampton will sponsor the caravan to post "Roadside Attraction" signs along the roadway.
